Hair Restoration at a Med Spa

Fortunately, various treatments available at a med spa can help men and women with hair loss. A full head of hair is a symbol of youth and vitality. Unfortunately, many men and women experience hair loss as they age. Hair restoration is a relatively new procedure that can help men and women grow back their hair. It is a procedure involving various treatments to stimulate hair growth, such as the PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment.

The PRP treatment stimulates hair growth by separating red blood cells from platelets. The result is plasma rich in growth factors. Once injected into a target area, the plasma can stimulate hair growth. This procedure is not a replacement for hair transplantation, but it does have some merits. A PRP treatment can last anywhere from three to six months, depending on the patient's situation.

Although PRP treatment is the current fad, many other options can help men and women who have lost their hair. The PRP treatment may be used as part of a treatment regimen or as a stand-alone solution. In addition to the PRP treatment, some patients may choose to use topical solutions to aid in their hair growth. Lastly, patients may undergo a surgical procedure to remove thinning hair.

The med spa or medical facility you choose to perform a hair restoration treatment will require a consultation. This consultation will involve your provider assessing the severity of your hair loss and designing a treatment plan to help you achieve the best results. A consultation may also involve a visit from a medical professional who will take blood tests to help determine the best method of treatment.

The med spa or medical facility where you will receive the hair restoration treatment may also require you to take medications that can help to treat your thinning hair. However, these medications will have various side effects and may not be the best way to treat your thinning hair.

The hair restoration procedure you are considering may also require significant downtime. In addition, the best results are not expected in the first few weeks. The patient may also experience a temporary "shock phase" in which the transplanted hair falls out.

One of the more technologically advanced treatments for hair loss is platelet-rich plasma. A PRP treatment consists of three main steps, including collecting blood from the patient, centrifuging the blood, and injecting the plasma. The blood is then mixed with growth factors to activate follicles. The resulting plasma may treat damaged hair follicles or be applied to a donor area. PRP's benefits include stimulating hair growth, providing a long-lasting solution to hair loss, and improving overall health. It is also the most cost-effective hair restoration option available.

Several other hair restoration methods, including Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Neograft hair restoration, can be considered. Each method can stimulate hair growth, but each has its advantages and drawbacks.
